Hi All. I'm looking for rockhounding in the southern Ontario area. (Not Bancroft) I'm new to the rockhounding thing so I don't even know how to search for places.

If I were you, I would look up local clubs near where you live. Join or go as a guest to their next couple of meetings. The club members will have some pointers for you as a novice collector or the club will have a field trip or two that you might find interesting.
Also look up fee for digging sites in southern Ontario. There might be a few listed and you might find them interesting as well.         BOB

Is Thunder Bay too far to go for you? There are a couple amethyst mines where you can collect crystal.

The Blue Points and Bills Old Amethyst Mine both allow digging for a small fee.
