Back to selling the 18" Highland Park Rock saw. For those of you interested, I couldn't find the time to pursue selling this equipment until I finished teaching the school year. I took pictures of the saw, but have had a great deal of trouble resizing them small enough that I can post or email. I've come up with a solution. This is a link to an open facebook page. This is a public link to the photo album of the rock saw. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=425&id=1824937725&l=54b4408a88 The photos are loaded there and additional descriptions will be placed under the photos. My dad paid $1900 for the rock saw, and I'm looking for a fair offer. See previous posts on 4/18 and 4/19 for a little more background. If the link above doesn't work, can't be pasted in, contact me and I'll send you the link directly.

Looking for/Want to Buy PYRITE.

I am looking for pyrite to use in an educational series on "Philosophers Earths" and ancient chemistry. I am specifically looking for pyrite dust, pebbles, non-collectable grade material.

I don't want "pretty" specimens because the mineral will be cooked, pounded, pulverized, and otherwise "demonstrated" on. Thus, I avoid materials that have value as beautiful objects.

I am also interested in other minerals that have similar histories of being players in the "alchemical" world, including iron, copper, and tin ores.

Hello, I live in clinton, mo and recently discovered 40+ pieces of stigmaria (petrified tree root) buried beneath the gravel/mud/clay in the base of my creek. I believe they are 280-300 million years old. I have a wide variety of sizes ranging from 1'6" down to 3". Most are in excellent shape with the details highly visible. Here is a photo of 1 of the larger pieces i found ->> http://fossilweb.com/SpecimenPix/FS499_2.jpg This piece is still a bit muddy from the creek but another piece i had cleaned up had a nice whitish/gray color. Email me at ss4goku_59@yahoo.com if you want more photos or information. Not exactly sure on the price, but i'm willing to negotiate.

Dear Josh;
Your "tree root" isn't; it's a cycad trunk section; cycads are tree ferns, which were responsible for 70% of all coal deposits in the world. I believe it's one of the lepidodendron species.

The last part of the title is "Cycad Tree TRUNK" & that species is part of the lepidodendron; family; Please re-read that article. Also, that species isn't the one you have; if you look at the pattern closely, it has a "scale over" on one side of the pattern. This is called a "keeled scale", bcs, mosses are made of scales, not so much solid single walls.

Your friend, Steve

My husband and I went to Hiddenite, NC. We found a bunch of gemstones. Some of them are only cab grade, but we have some amethysts that we'd like cut. We're looking for a lapidary that we can build a relationship with and keep going back to, but we don't know where to look. We're planning on continuing to mine because we really enjoyed it. We'd really appreciate any help, direction or advice. Thanks! My email address is alexandra_ee@yahoo.com if you have any information.

Hi.. I have been working a new mine up here in Northern Missouri that produces some of the nicest and gemmiest Iridescent Brown Calcite Geodes. These all range in size from about 2 inches to 6 inches across. I am interested in doing some trading even up for interesting quality mineral specimens from other locations. If you have something you would like to trade get ahold of me. I will trade for one specimen or 50 or more.. Here is a sample picture of the type of geodes.. David
