| #2 | Hi Docia,
Thank you so much for sharing you excellent trip with us, I very much enjoyed coming along and sharing in the fun! The petrified wood buildings were very cool and I as equally thought your septarian nodule a winner !
Have a great Holiday weekend and thanks again,
John |

| #3 | Docia,
Thanks for the report. That last rock looks like Feldspar, Moonstone. You don't say what the geology of the area is but around Serpentine locations the Moonstone looks like your rock. Try the hardness, if it's 6, then it could be Moonstone. It has that blue -ish light to it that rough Moonstone has when wet.
I like the Petrified Wood place too. There is sure plenty of Petrified Wood in Texas.

| #4 | Hi Docia,
What a drag - you drove all that way to Midlothian only to have it be closed on you. Bummer. But, it looks like you made the best of it, as seems to be your positive way. I enjoyed the report! I'll proabably turn it into a McRocks version when I can carve out enough time.

| #5 | John, thanks - this is the first time I ever found a septarian nodule and I am very pleased indeed. I already look forward to going there again, maybe next spring, to look for more - after reading info on the web that other folks wrote about finding them with whole ammonite or bone fossils inside I hope to collect some of the larger ones. Will definitely need to plan that trip when Floyd is home.
Joe, this area is due north of Dallas - by what I'm finding it is cretaceous period geology - if that is what you are asking. It was found at the same location as the septarian nodules and they were embedded in a dark gray shale(?). I do not have a scratch kit but I have a quartz crystal here and it does not scratch it, next tried my trusty pocket knife with no results either. I had thought that I might try to cut this and do cabs but from what I read on web sites you really must be knowledgeable about the moonstone to do that right so perhaps it will just be another pretty piece on a shelf!
Mike, I rarely let anything prevent a positive outlook. Perhaps if it wasn't for having a sister living in the area I might have not continued on down, but I had already driven 7 of the 7 & 1/2 hour drive to Jan's place by time she called to tell me the news so I told her Jan and I would talk it over and let her know. They know areas where they find petrified wood and fossils and we figured we would come up with something interesting and even if not we'd have a great time. Always an adventure!
glad you all enjoyed the report. Docia |

| #6 | Hi Docia
I've hardly ever gotten to write to you since you joined and got going here on McRocks since that was right when I was phasing out due to being totally caught up in the quest of finding a new home! Well, I'm glad I checked in in time to see this great report and pictures! Thanks so much for putting it together and sharing. This winter I'll be back reading a whole lot here finally(now that we are semi-settled again) and I know I'll enjoy the heck out of your other reports too! I adore that septarian! My hubby Rick and I thrived for years on finding the best "space man" which is our term for unusual-speciman! Yours is top-notch! KOR, Rhonda |

I can't even imagine having enough pet wood to build buildings out of.AWESOME!
You did well collecting but your nodule is the real "keeper" and I KNOW it will always bring you great memories of your trip!
Thanks,,,
